Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon

Dr Mahmoud Al-Najjar is a consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with more than 18 years of surgical experience across Australia and internationally. Originally from Ottawa, Canada, he relocated to Australia to pursue his medical career, completing his Bachelor of Science (Medicine) and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.

Dr Al-Najjar holds fellowships with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP). In 2023, he was awarded Fellowship in Vascular Surgery (FRACS Vasc) by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). He is also a member of the RACS WA State Committee, the RACS WA State Trauma Subcommittee, and the RACS Rural Surgery Section, reflecting his strong advocacy for both vascular surgery and trauma care in regional Western Australia. Internationally, he is an active member of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS, North America).

Throughout his career, Dr Al-Najjar has worked with pioneers of vascular surgery in Australia, including Professor Paul Norman (Perth), the late Professor Philip Walker (Brisbane), and the late Associate Professor Michael Denton (Melbourne). He is also an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery (ANZSVS) and the Australasian College of Phlebology.

Passionate about education, Dr Al-Najjar is a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the University of Western Australia Rural Clinical School, an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Instructor, and a contributor to surgical training and vascular education across WA.

At Albany Day Hospital, he provides a comprehensive vascular service for the Great Southern community, including advanced minimally invasive procedures such as radiofrequency ablation and VenaSeal (glue abolition) for varicose veins. He also performs a wide range of vascular procedures in Perth, Bunbury, Geraldton, and Mandurah, ensuring patients across WA have access to high-quality specialist care closer to home.
